Meet Jeffrey Wedekind, the entrepreneur and mastermind behind Chinook Shores, Inc. Based in Ketchikan, Alaska, Jeff brings over 30 years of experience in the fishing and engineering industries. His expertise spans different sectors that include construction and land development as well as marine, highways and underground utilities.

Jeff Wedekind’s introduction to the Alaska fishing industry began in the late 70’s as a crew member on the F/V’s Crane and Westward.

He later financed his way through college working on trollers, seiners, long-liners, tenders and crabbers from the Gulf of Alaska to the Bering Sea. Upon receiving a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1989, he worked for engineering firms and construction companies where he managed high profile commercial construction and land development projects such as marine facilities, highways, rural roads and underground utilities – including Pier 25 – a marine facility he designed and developed.

In 2005, Jeff founded Chinook Shores, Inc. in Ketchikan — a fishing lodge he built from the ground up. He is a member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators (NACO), Southeast Alaska Guides Organization (SEAGO) and currently serves as a board member of the Alaska Charter Association (ACA). Jeff actively maintains his United States Coast Guard (USCG) Master 100 Ton Captain’s License while offering guided and self-guided sport fishing opportunities to the guests at his lodge.

With a strong work ethic and clear vision, Jeffrey Wedekind continues to lead Chinook Shores, Inc. in providing unforgettable sport-fishing experiences to his guests.

Meet McKinley Kellogg, a marine scientist passionate about the health of our fisheries as well as the success and longevity of Southeast Alaska’s sportfishing industry.

McKinley’s passion for Southeast Alaska’s sportfishing industry began in highschool when she accepted a seasonal position working as a dockhand at Chinook Shores Lodge. She continued to spend her summers working as lead dockhand and seafood processor throughout college while she earned a B.S in Environmental Science from Western Washington University.

As a marine scientist, McKinley spent time working collaboratively with ADF&G and commercial fishermen to monitor crab populations including opilio, bairdi, and king crab species in the Bering Sea.

After conducting field research onboard commercial crabbers as far north as the Pribilof Islands, McKinley accepted a year round position at Chinook Shores Lodge and made her return to Southeast Alaska.

As Operations Manager at the lodge, McKinley continues to combine her passions for industry and marine sustainability. Supervising a team of eight guest services representatives, dockhands and seafood processors, McKinley works to provide lodge guests with unforgettable fishing experiences at Chinook Shores Lodge while ensuring compliance with ADF&G annual sportfishing regulations.
