Meet Soren Heinecke, a facilities and equipment specialist with extensive experience in the marine industry. A new career opportunity brought him to Alaska in 2013, where his career began as a crew member on long-liners, pot cod boats, tenders, and crabbers in the Gulf and Bering Sea.
Soren later developed a passion for sportfishing and tugboating and has worked in various key positions, ranging from dockhand and sportfishing guide in Ketchikan to chief engineer at both Island Tug & Barge and Western Towboat. His skills and experience even led him to the construction of a 220-feet float dock for the Pier 25 marine facility as a contracted dock builder in Spring 2020.
In 2023, Soren accepted the position of Facilities and Equipment Manager at Chinook Shores Lodge, where he puts his certifications and qualifications, including Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) 4000 HP, Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) Six-Pack License, 100 Ton Master Near Coastal, 200 Ton Mate Near Coastal, and many other USCG and FCC credentials, to full use. Soren continues to maintain his Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) for tourism and transportation opportunities throughout Southeast Alaska.
Soren’s extensive professional background has given him the ability to provide guests at the Chinook Shores Lodge with an unparalleled level of service and expertise. He is a firm believer in sustainable marine practices and is dedicated to environmental protection and personal safety at sea.
